When the Israelites returned from their hot pursuit of the Philistines, they looted their camp.

When they are scorched, ¹  they dry up, when it is hot, they vanish ²  from their place.

My skin has turned dark on me; ¹  my body ²  is hot with fever. ³ 

You, whose garments are hot when the earth is still because of the south wind,

Can ¹  a man walk on hot coals without scorching his feet?

Our skin is hot as an oven due to a fever from hunger. ¹ 

Aaron said, “Do not let your anger burn hot, my lord; ¹  you know these people, that they tend to evil. ² 

Here’s how! ¹  With the sharp arrows of warriors, with arrowheads forged over the hot coals. ² 

These were the sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah (who discovered the hot springs ¹  in the wilderness as he pastured the donkeys of his father Zibeon).

He looked and right there by his head was a cake baking on hot coals and a jug of water. He ate and drank and then slept some more. ¹ 

But since the king’s command was so urgent, and the furnace was so excessively hot, the men who escorted ¹  Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were killed ²  by the leaping flames. ³ 

When the sun began to shine, God sent ¹  a hot ²  east wind. So the sun beat down ³  on Jonah’s head, and he grew faint. So he despaired of life, ⁴  and said, “I would rather die than live!” ⁵ 

So the priest gave him holy bread, for there was no bread there other than the bread of the Presence. It had been removed from before the Lord in order to replace it with hot bread on the day it had been taken away.

Gad went to David and told him, “Shall seven ¹  years of famine come upon your land? Or shall you flee for three months from your enemy with him in hot pursuit? Or shall there be three days of plague in your land? Now decide ²  what I should tell the one who sent me.”
