and the two will become one flesh. ¹  So they are no longer two, but one flesh.

Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

What is born of the flesh is flesh, ¹  and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.

So then, ¹  brothers and sisters, ²  we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh

All flesh is not the same: People have one flesh, animals have another, birds and fish another. ¹ 

to eat ¹  your fill ²  of the flesh of kings, the flesh of generals, ³  the flesh of powerful people, the flesh of horses and those who ride them, and the flesh of all people, both free and slave, ⁴  and small and great!”

For God achieved what the law could not do because ¹  it was weakened through the flesh. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

So, since Christ suffered ¹  in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin, ² 

For my flesh is true ¹  food, and my blood is true ²  drink.

concerning his Son who was a descendant ¹  of David with reference to the flesh, ² 

Now the works of the flesh ¹  are obvious: ²  sexual immorality, impurity, depravity,

Now those who belong to Christ ¹  have crucified the flesh ²  with its passions ³  and desires.

Beware of the dogs, ¹  beware of the evil workers, beware of those who mutilate the flesh! ² 

For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by ¹  the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.

for you are still influenced by the flesh. ¹  For since there is still jealousy and dissension among you, are you not influenced by the flesh and behaving like unregenerate people? ² 

For the flesh has desires that are opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit has desires ¹  that are opposed to the flesh, for these are in opposition to ²  each other, so that you cannot do what you want.

because the person who sows to his own flesh ¹  will reap corruption ²  from the flesh, ³  but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.

among whom ¹  all of us ²  also ³  formerly lived out our lives in the cravings of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath ⁴  even as the rest… ⁵ 

So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
