A song of ascents. ²  O Lord, for David’s sake remember all his strenuous effort, ³ 

What benefit ¹  do people ²  get from all the effort which ³  they expend ⁴  on earth? ⁵ 

making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

For this very reason, ¹  make every effort ²  to add to your faith excellence, ³  to excellence, knowledge;
