who says to the deep sea, ‘Be dry! I will dry up your sea currents,’

Below his roots dry up, and his branches wither above.

Everything on dry land that had the breath of life ¹  in its nostrils died.

And by the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth ¹  was dry.

explain ¹  to your children, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan River ²  on dry ground.’

When they are scorched, ¹  they dry up, when it is hot, they vanish ²  from their place.

He shouts a battle cry ¹  against the sea ²  and makes it dry up; ³  he makes all the rivers ⁴  run dry. Bashan and Carmel wither; ⁵  the blossom of Lebanon withers.

God called the dry ground “land” ¹  and the gathered waters he called “seas.” God saw that it was good.

Every grain offering, whether mixed with olive oil or dry, belongs to all the sons of Aaron, each one alike. ¹ 

If he holds back the waters, then they dry up; ¹  if he releases them, ²  they destroy ³  the land.
