“Comfort, comfort my people,” says your ¹  God.

If ¹  I say, ²  “My bed will comfort me, ³  my couch will ease ⁴  my complaint,”

But ¹  I would strengthen ²  you with my words; ³  comfort from my lips would bring ⁴  you relief.

Raise me to a position of great honor! ¹  Turn and comfort me! ² 

“But woe ¹  to you who are rich, for you have received ²  your comfort ³  already.

who comforts us in all our troubles ¹  so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any trouble ²  with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

But if we are afflicted, ¹  it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort that you experience in your patient endurance of the same sufferings that we also suffer.

Are not my days few? ¹  Cease, ²  then, and leave ³  me alone, ⁴  that I may find a little comfort, ⁵ 

My eyes grow tired as I wait for your promise to be fulfilled. ¹  I say, ²  “When will you comfort me?”

Now may the God of endurance and comfort give you unity with one another ¹  in accordance with Christ Jesus,

Blessed is ¹  the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

For just as the sufferings ¹  of Christ ²  overflow ³  toward us, so also our comfort through Christ overflows to you. ⁴ 

And we urge you, brothers and sisters, ¹  admonish the undisciplined, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient toward all.

Then I would yet have my comfort, ¹  then ²  I would rejoice, ³  in spite of pitiless pain, ⁴  for ⁵  I have not concealed the words ⁶  of the Holy One. ⁷ 

And surely, he drew you ¹  from the mouth of distress, to a wide place, unrestricted, ²  and to the comfort ³  of your table filled with rich food. ⁴ 

Show me evidence of your favor! ¹  Then those who hate me will see it and be ashamed, ²  for you, O Lord, will help me and comfort me. ³ 

And our hope for you is steadfast because we know that as you share in ¹  our sufferings, so also you will share in ²  our comfort.

so that now instead ¹  you should rather forgive and comfort him. ²  This will keep him from being overwhelmed by excessive grief to the point of despair. ³ 

Therefore, if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort provided by love, any fellowship in the Spirit, ¹  any affection or mercy, ² 

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope,
