A good tree is not able to bear bad fruit, nor a bad tree to bear good fruit.

He takes away ¹  every branch that does not bear ²  fruit in me. He ³  prunes ⁴  every branch that bears ⁵  fruit so that it will bear more fruit.

But how can I alone bear up under the burden of your hardship and strife?

Those who remain in Judah will take root in the ground and bear fruit. ¹ 

he makes the Bear, ¹  Orion, ²  and the Pleiades, ³  and the constellations of the southern sky; ⁴ 

Bear with me ¹  and I ²  will speak, and after I have spoken ³  you may mock. ⁴ 

Can you lead out the constellations ¹  in their seasons, or guide the Bear with its cubs? ² 

They crouch, they bear ¹  their young, they bring forth the offspring they have carried. ² 

A person’s spirit ¹  sustains him through sickness – but who can bear ²  a crushed spirit? ³ 

Under three things the earth trembles, ¹  and under four things it cannot bear up:

Those who remain in Judah will take root in the ground and bear fruit. ¹ 

It is good for a man ¹  to bear ²  the yoke ³  while he is young. ⁴ 

You must bear your punishment for your obscene conduct and your abominable practices, declares the Lord.

Just as lion cubs are born predators, ¹  so Ephraim will bear his sons for slaughter.

Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

For my yoke is easy to bear, and my load is not hard to carry.”

“For ¹  no good tree bears bad ²  fruit, nor again ³  does a bad tree bear good fruit,

“I have many more things to say to you, ¹  but you cannot bear ²  them now.

So when we could bear it no longer, we decided to stay on in Athens ¹  alone.

¹ The Lord said to Aaron, “You and your sons and your tribe ²  with you must bear the iniquity of the sanctuary, ³  and you and your sons with you must bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
