Then Isaac brought Rebekah ¹  into his mother Sarah’s tent. He took her ²  as his wife and loved her. ³  So Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death. ⁴ 

Now Abimelech son of Jerub-Baal went to Shechem to see his mother’s relatives. ¹  He said to them and to his mother’s entire extended family, ² 

A wise child ¹  brings joy to his father, but a foolish person ²  despises ³  his mother.

A rod and reproof ¹  impart ²  wisdom, but a child who is unrestrained ³  brings shame ⁴  to his mother. ⁵ 

There is a generation ¹  who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers. ² 

The words of King Lemuel, ¹  an oracle ²  that his mother taught him:
