The army was in position – the main army north of the city and the rear guard west of the city. That night Joshua went into ¹  the middle of the valley.

He made the camels kneel down by the well ¹  outside the city. It was evening, ²  the time when the women would go out to draw water.

Where are the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, and the king of Lair, ¹  Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah?’”

He appointed judges throughout the land and in each of the fortified cities of Judah. ¹

then the priest is to command that the stones that had the infection in them be pulled and thrown ¹  outside the city ²  into an unclean place.

and he is to send the live bird away outside the city ¹  into the open countryside. So he is to make atonement for the house and it will be clean.
