who delight ¹  in doing ²  evil, ³  they rejoice in perverse evil; ⁴ 

“It’s worthless! It’s worthless!” ¹  says the buyer, ²  but when he goes on his way, he boasts. ³ 

The fear of the Lord is to hate ¹  evil; I hate arrogant pride ²  and the evil way and perverse utterances. ³ 

The one who builds his house by unjust gain is as good as dead. ¹  He does this so he can build his nest way up high and escape the clutches of disaster. ² 

to deliver ¹  you from the way of the wicked, ²  from those ³  speaking perversity, ⁴ 

by keeping ¹  you from the evil woman, ²  from the smooth tongue of ³  the loose woman. ⁴ 

You refuse to believe a day of disaster will come, ¹  but you establish a reign of violence. ² 

Ahithophel was the king’s adviser; Hushai the Arkite was the king’s confidant. ¹ 

He will deliver you ¹  from six calamities; yes, in seven ²  no evil will touch you.

that the evil man is spared from the day of his misfortune, that he is delivered ¹  from the day of God’s wrath?

If ¹  I have rejoiced over the misfortune of my enemy ²  or exulted ³  because calamity ⁴  found him –

or have wronged my ally, ¹  or helped his lawless enemy, ² 

But the Lord opposes evildoers and wipes out all memory of them from the earth. ¹ 

Why should I be afraid in times of trouble, ¹  when the sinful deeds of deceptive men threaten to overwhelm me? ²
