As ¹  iron sharpens ²  iron, so a person ³  sharpens his friend. ⁴ 

“Your hands have shaped ¹  me and made me, but ²  now you destroy me completely. ³ 

Hide them in the dust ¹  together, imprison ²  them ³  in the grave. ⁴ 

And now ¹  they are tearing down ²  all its engravings ³  with axes ⁴  and crowbars. ⁵ 

Let the rivers clap their hands! Let the mountains sing in unison

When the Arameans realized that they had been defeated by Israel, they consolidated their forces. ¹ 

There ¹  the prisoners ²  relax ³  together; ⁴  they do not hear the voice of the oppressor. ⁵ 

“Oh, ¹  if only my grief ²  could be weighed, ³  and my misfortune laid ⁴  on the scales too! ⁵ 

Will ¹  it ²  go down to the barred gates ³  of death? Will ⁴  we descend ⁵  together into the dust?”

Together they lie down in the dust, and worms cover over them both.

They turn the needy from the pathway, and the poor of the land hide themselves together. ¹ 

all flesh would perish together and human beings would return to dust.

when the morning stars ¹  sang ²  in chorus, ³  and all the sons of God ⁴  shouted for joy?

He is the one who forms every human heart, ¹  and takes note of all their actions.

They surround me like water all day long; they join forces and encircle me. ¹ 

Let the wicked fall ¹  into their ²  own nets, while I escape. ³ 

Remind me of what happened! Let’s debate! You, prove to me that you are right! ¹ 

The Lord ¹  was king over Jeshurun, ²  when the leaders of the people assembled, the tribes of Israel together. ³ 

That night – let darkness seize ¹  it; let it not be included ²  among the days of the year; let it not enter among the number of the months! ³ 

People ¹  have opened their mouths against me, they have struck my cheek in scorn; ²  they unite ³  together against me.
