he is a diseased man. He is unclean. The priest must surely pronounce him unclean because of his infection on his head. ¹ 

and any winged thing on the ground are impure to you – they may not be eaten. ¹ 

Or when there is ¹  a person who touches anything ceremonially ²  unclean, whether the carcass of an unclean wild animal, or the carcass of an unclean domesticated animal, or the carcass of an unclean creeping thing, even if he did not realize it, ³  but he himself has become unclean and is guilty; ⁴ 

The rock badger ¹  is unclean to you because it chews the cud even though its hoof is not divided.

but if water is put on the seed and such a carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.

it is a chronic ¹  disease on the skin of his body, ²  so the priest is to pronounce him unclean. ³  The priest ⁴  must not merely quarantine him, for he is unclean. ⁵ 

so the priest is to examine the raw flesh ¹  and pronounce him unclean ²  – it is diseased.

And every open container that has no covering fastened on it is unclean.

but whatever does not have fins and scales you may not eat; it is ritually impure to you.

Now be careful! Do not drink wine or beer, and do not eat any food that will make you ritually unclean. ¹ 

He posted guards at the gates of the Lord’s temple, so no one who was ceremonially unclean in any way could enter.

Moreover, they will teach my people the difference between the holy and the common, and show them how to distinguish between the ceremonially unclean and the clean. ¹ 

They will not remain in the Lord’s land. Ephraim will return to Egypt; they will eat ritually unclean food in Assyria.

Anyone who touches the corpse of any dead person and does not purify himself defiles the tabernacle of the Lord. And that person must be cut off from Israel, ¹  because the water of purification was not sprinkled on him. He will be unclean; his uncleanness remains on him.

But the man who is unclean and does not purify himself, that person must be cut off from among the community, because he has polluted the sanctuary of the Lord; the water of purification was not sprinkled on him, so he is unclean.

I said, “Too bad for me! I am destroyed, ¹  for my lips are contaminated by sin, ²  and I live among people whose lips are contaminated by sin. ³  My eyes have seen the king, the Lord who commands armies.” ⁴ 

When ¹  Jacob heard that Shechem ²  had violated his daughter Dinah, his sons were with the livestock in the field. So Jacob remained silent ³  until they came in.

Jacob’s sons answered Shechem and his father Hamor deceitfully when they spoke because Shechem ¹  had violated their sister Dinah.

The meat which touches anything ceremonially ¹  unclean must not be eaten; it must be burned up in the fire. As for ceremonially clean meat, ²  everyone who is ceremonially clean may eat the meat.
