(Laban gave his female servant Zilpah to his daughter Leah to be her servant.) ¹ 

(Laban gave his female servant Bilhah to his daughter Rachel to be her servant.) ¹ 

Soon Leah’s servant Zilpah gave Jacob a son. ¹ 

The female servants came forward with their children and bowed down. ¹ 

The sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s servant, were Dan and Naphtali.

She said, “You really are being kind to me, ¹  sir, ²  for you have reassured ³  and encouraged ⁴  me, your servant, ⁵  even though I am ⁶  not one of your servants!” ⁷ 

But later ¹  they had changed their minds. They had taken back their male and female slaves that they had freed and forced them to be slaves again. ² 

Then Leah’s servant Zilpah gave Jacob another son. ¹ 

under an unloved ¹  woman who is married, and under a female servant who dispossesses ²  her mistress.

and he did treat Abram well ¹  on account of her. Abram received ²  sheep and cattle, male donkeys, male servants, female servants, female donkeys, and camels.

Now Sarai, ¹  Abram’s wife, had not given birth to any children, ²  but she had an Egyptian servant ³  named Hagar. ⁴ 

This is the account of Abraham’s son Ishmael, ¹  whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s servant, bore to Abraham.

So Rachel ¹  gave him her servant Bilhah as a wife, and Jacob had marital relations with ²  her.

Bilhah, Rachel’s servant, became pregnant again and gave Jacob another son. ¹ 

Then Leah said, “God has granted me a reward ¹  because I gave my servant to my husband as a wife.” ²  So she named him Issachar. ³ 

In this way Jacob ¹  became extremely prosperous. He owned ²  large flocks, male and female servants, camels, and donkeys.

He will take your male and female servants, as well as your best cattle and your donkeys, and assign them for his own use.

Now let this present ¹  that your servant has brought to my lord be given to the servants who follow ²  my lord.

She arose, bowed her face toward the ground, and said, “Your female servant, like a lowly servant, will wash ¹  the feet of the servants of my lord.”

Then the woman said, “Please permit your servant to speak to my lord the king about another matter.” He replied, “Tell me.”
