“To the one in despair, kindness ¹  should come from his friend ²  even if ³  he forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

Let his own eyes see his destruction; ¹  let him drink of the anger of the Almighty.

then the Almighty himself will be your gold, ¹  and the choicest ²  silver for you.

Indeed, God has made my heart faint; ¹  the Almighty has terrified me.

when the Almighty ¹  was still with me and my children were ²  around me;

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life. ¹ 

As for you, the one who lives ²  in the shelter of the sovereign One, ³  and resides in the protective shadow ⁴  of the mighty king ⁵  –

Does God pervert ¹  justice? ²  Or does the Almighty pervert ³  what is right?

But ¹  if you will look ²  to God, and make your supplication ³  to the Almighty,

“Can you discover ¹  the essence ²  of God? Can you find out ³  the perfection of the Almighty? ⁴ 

for he stretches out his hand against God, ¹  and vaunts himself ²  against the Almighty,

They were saying to God, ‘Turn away from us,’ and ‘What can the Almighty do to us?’ ¹ 

If you return to the Almighty, you will be built up; ¹  if you remove wicked behavior far from your tent,

“As surely as God lives, ¹  who has denied me justice, ²  the Almighty, who has made my life bitter ³  –

Will he find delight ¹  in the Almighty? Will he call out to God at all times?

What then would be one’s lot from God above, one’s heritage from the Almighty ¹  on high?

But it is a spirit in people, the breath ¹  of the Almighty, that makes them understand.

Surely it is an empty cry ¹  – God does not hear it; the Almighty does not take notice of it.

“Will the one who contends ¹  with the Almighty correct him? ²  Let the person who accuses God give him an answer!”

When the sovereign judge ¹  scatters kings, ²  let it snow ³  on Zalmon!
