In the wilderness they had an insatiable craving ¹  for meat; ²  they challenged God ³  in the desert.

Do not crave that ruler’s ¹  delicacies, for ²  that food is deceptive. ³ 

But he is unchangeable, ¹  and who can change ²  him? Whatever he ³  has desired, he does.

Certainly ¹  the Lord has chosen Zion; he decided to make it his home. ² 

He said, ¹  “This will be my resting place forever; I will live here, for I have chosen it. ² 

The appetite ¹  of the sluggard ²  craves ³  but gets nothing, but the desire of the diligent will be abundantly satisfied. ⁴ 

The appetite ¹  of the wicked desires ²  evil; his neighbor is shown no favor ³  in his eyes.

All day long he craves greedily, ¹  but the righteous gives and does not hold back. ² 

Do not envy evil people, ¹  do not desire ²  to be with them;

David was thirsty and said, “How I wish someone would give me some water to drink from the cistern in Bethlehem near the gate!”

I will select ¹  you; you will rule over all you desire to have and you will be king over Israel.

So the name of that place was called Kibroth Hattaavah, ¹  because there they buried the people that craved different food. ² 

You must not desire ¹  another man’s ²  wife, nor should you crave his ³  house, his field, his male and female servants, his ox, his donkey, or anything else he owns.” ⁴ 

I ¹  look for ²  you during the night, my spirit within me seeks you at dawn, for when your judgments come upon the earth, those who live in the world learn about justice. ³ 

But I have not pestered you to bring disaster. ¹  I have not desired the time of irreparable devastation. ²  You know that. You are fully aware of every word that I have spoken. ³ 

Woe ¹  to those who wish for the day of the Lord! Why do you want the Lord’s day of judgment to come? It will bring darkness, not light.
