They hatch the eggs of a poisonous snake and spin a spider’s web. Whoever eats their eggs will die, a poisonous snake is hatched. ¹ 

He broke open rocks in the wilderness, and gave them enough water to fill the depths of the sea. ¹ 

By his knowledge the primordial sea ¹  was broken open, ²  and the clouds drip down dew. ³ 

He locks the waters in his clouds, and the clouds do not burst with the weight of them.

He has cut out channels ¹  through the rocks; his eyes have spotted ²  every precious thing.

Inside I am like wine which has no outlet, ¹  like new wineskins ²  ready to burst!

You broke open the spring and the stream; ¹  you dried up perpetually flowing rivers. ² 

He divided the sea and led them across it; he made the water stand in a heap.

As when one plows and breaks up the soil, ¹  so our bones are scattered at the mouth of Sheol.

One who quarries stones may be injured by them; one who splits logs may be endangered by them.

When he had finished ¹  speaking ²  all these words, the ground that was under them split open,

They say, “Let’s attack Judah, terrorize it, and conquer it. ¹  Then we’ll set up the son of Tabeel as its king.” ² 

They do not thirst as he leads them through dry regions; he makes water flow out of a rock for them; he splits open a rock and water flows out.’ ¹ 

the one who made his majestic power available to Moses, ¹  who divided the water before them, gaining for himself a lasting reputation, ² 

It lasted until the ninth day of the fourth month of Zedekiah’s eleventh year. ¹  On that day they broke through the city walls.

I will ignite a fire in Egypt; Syene ¹  will writhe in agony, Thebes will be broken down, and Memphis will face enemies every day.

I will attack them like a bear robbed of her cubs – I will rip open their chests. I will devour them there like a lion – like a wild animal would tear them apart.

Your bow is ready for action; ¹  you commission your arrows. ²  Selah. You cause flash floods on the earth’s surface. ³ 

And as for you, ¹  lift up your staff and extend your hand toward the sea and divide it, so that ²  the Israelites may go through the middle of the sea on dry ground.
