For sin will have no mastery over you, because you are not under law but under grace.

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Absolutely not!

To the Jews I became like a Jew to gain the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law) ¹  to gain those under the law.

Five times I received from the Jews forty lashes less one. ¹

Look at ships too: Though they are so large and driven by harsh winds, they are steered by a tiny rudder wherever the pilot’s inclination directs.

Demetrius ¹  has been testified to by all, even by the truth itself. We also testify to him, ²  and you know that our testimony is true.

and elaborate greetings ¹  in the marketplaces, and to have people call them ‘Rabbi.’

But when he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he did not respond.

Some people ¹  came bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. ² 

and all who heard it were astonished ¹  at what the shepherds said.

He ¹  began to teach ²  in their synagogues ³  and was praised ⁴  by all.

You will be hated by everyone because of my name. ¹ 

The brothers in Lystra ¹  and Iconium ²  spoke well ³  of him. ⁴ 

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
