(They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father.) ¹ 

For God said, ¹  ‘Honor your father and mother’ ²  and ‘Whoever insults his father or mother must be put to death.’ ³ 

For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ ¹  and, ‘Whoever insults his father or mother must be put to death.’ ² 

(Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God – he ¹  has seen the Father.) ² 

Everyone who denies the Son does not have the Father either. The person who confesses the Son has the Father also. ¹ 

They ¹  immediately left the boat and their father and followed him.

honor your father and mother, ¹  and love your neighbor as yourself.” ² 

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother, ¹ 

the oath ¹  that he swore to our ancestor ²  Abraham. This oath grants ³ 

Philip said, ¹  “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be content.” ² 

The one who hates me hates my Father too.

They ¹  will do these things because they have not known the Father or me. ² 

concerning righteousness, ¹  because ²  I am going to the Father and you will see me no longer;

For this reason ¹  I kneel ²  before the Father, ³ 

Do not address an older man harshly ¹  but appeal to him as a father. Speak to younger men as brothers, ² 

so that all people ¹  will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.

Then they began asking ¹  him, “Who is your father?” Jesus answered, “You do not know either me or my Father. If you knew me you would know my Father too.” ² 

Jesus replied, ¹  “Have I been with you for so long, and you have not known ²  me, Philip? The person who has seen me has seen the Father! How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

Another ¹  of the ²  disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”

And call no one your ‘father’ on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.
