And Mary ¹  said, ²  “My soul exalts ³  the Lord, ⁴ 

He went ¹  to be registered with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him, ²  and who was expecting a child.

(Now Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there, opposite the tomb.)

to a virgin engaged ¹  to a man whose name was Joseph, a descendant of David, ²  and the virgin’s name was Mary.

So ¹  the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, ²  Mary, for you have found favor ³  with God!

Mary ¹  said to the angel, “How will this be, since I have not had sexual relations with ²  a man?”

In those days ¹  Mary got up and went hurriedly into the hill country, to a town of Judah, ² 

So ¹  Mary stayed with Elizabeth ²  about three months ³  and then returned to her home.

but one thing ¹  is needed. Mary has chosen the best ²  part; it will not be taken away from her.”

so many of the Jewish people of the region ¹  had come to Martha and Mary to console them ²  over the loss of their brother.) ³ 

So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary was sitting in the house. ¹ 

Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She ¹  turned and said to him in Aramaic, ²  “Rabboni” ³  (which means Teacher). ⁴ 

There were also women, watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, ¹  and Salome.

So ¹  Mary said, “Yes, ²  I am a servant ³  of the Lord; let this happen to me ⁴  according to your word.” ⁵  Then ⁶  the angel departed from her.

So they hurried off and located Mary and Joseph, and found the baby lying in a manger. ¹ 

She ¹  had a sister named Mary, who sat ²  at the Lord’s feet ³  and listened to what he said.

(Now it was Mary who anointed the Lord with perfumed oil ¹  and wiped his feet dry with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) ² 

And when she had said this, Martha ¹  went and called her sister Mary, saying privately, ²  “The Teacher is here and is asking for you.” ³ 

Then many of the people, ¹  who had come with Mary and had seen the things Jesus ²  did, believed in him.

Mary Magdalene came and informed the disciples, “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them ¹  what ²  Jesus ³  had said to her. ⁴
