Therefore, if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort provided by love, any fellowship in the Spirit, ¹  any affection or mercy, ² 

For you put up with ¹  it if someone makes slaves of you, if someone exploits you, if someone takes advantage of you, if someone behaves arrogantly ²  toward you, if someone strikes you in the face.

and has a reputation for good works: as one who has raised children, ¹  practiced hospitality, washed the feet of the saints, helped those in distress – as one who has exhibited all kinds of good works. ² 

If someone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.

Have you suffered so many things for nothing? – if indeed it was for nothing.

and saying, “If ¹  you are the king of the Jews, save yourself!”

For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward. But if I do it unwillingly, I am entrusted with a responsibility.

So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if you are ¹  a son, then you are also an heir through God. ² 

If we endure, we will also reign with him. ¹  If we deny ²  him, ³  he will also deny us.

If we live by the Spirit, let us also behave in accordance with ¹  the Spirit.

This saying ¹  is trustworthy: ²  If we died with him, we will also live with him.

if you have experienced ¹  the Lord’s kindness. ² 

If anyone has an ear, he had better listen!
