He had James, the brother of John, executed with a sword. ¹ 

But you who eat vegetables only – why do you judge your brother or sister? ¹  And you who eat everything – why do you despise your brother or sister? ²  For we will all stand before the judgment seat ³  of God.

For this reason, if food causes my brother or sister to sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I may not cause one of them ¹  to sin.

But I saw none of the other apostles ¹  except James the Lord’s brother.

Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. ¹ 

“Brother ¹  will hand over brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise against ²  parents and have them put to death.

Simon ¹  (whom he named Peter), and his brother Andrew; and James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, ² 

And we are sending ¹  along with him the brother who is praised by all the churches for his work in spreading the gospel. ² 

no longer as a slave, ¹  but more than a slave, as a dear brother. He is especially so to me, and even more so to you now, both humanly speaking ²  and in the Lord.

You should know that ¹  our brother Timothy has been released. If he comes soon, he will be with me when I see you. ² 

The one who says he is in the light but still hates ¹  his fellow Christian ²  is still in the darkness.

The one who loves his fellow Christian ¹  resides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. ² 

Six days later ¹  Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John the brother of James, ²  and led them privately up a high mountain.

“If ¹  your brother ²  sins, ³  go and show him his fault ⁴  when the two of you are alone. If he listens to you, you have regained your brother.

As he went along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, Simon’s brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishermen). ¹ 

Going on a little farther, he saw James, the son of Zebedee, and John his brother in their ¹  boat mending nets.

to James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee, ¹  he gave the name Boanerges (that is, “sons of thunder”);

He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James, ¹  and John, the brother of James.

He first ¹  found his own brother Simon and told him, “We have found the Messiah!” ²  (which is translated Christ). ³
