I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

For all of you who ¹  were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Now when ¹  all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized. And while he was praying, ²  the heavens ³  opened,

For ¹  John baptized with water, but you ²  will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

Or do you not know that as many as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

(I also baptized the household of Stephanus. Otherwise, I do not remember whether I baptized anyone else.)

John ¹  was also baptizing at Aenon near Salim, ²  because water was plentiful there, and people were coming ³  to him ⁴  and being baptized.

And I remembered the word of the Lord, ¹  as he used to say, ²  ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ ³ 

Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? ¹  If the dead are not raised at all, then why are they baptized for them?

and he was baptizing them ¹  in the Jordan River as they confessed their sins.

The one who believes and is baptized will be saved, but the one who does not believe will be condemned.

Tax collectors ¹  also came to be baptized, and they said to him, “Teacher, what should we do?”

The ¹  Pharisee was astonished when he saw that Jesus ²  did not first wash his hands ³  before the meal.

I have a baptism ¹  to undergo, ²  and how distressed I am until it is finished!

These things happened in Bethany ¹  across the Jordan River ²  where John was baptizing.

(although Jesus himself was not baptizing, but his disciples were), ¹ 

So Paul ¹  said, “Into what then were you baptized?” “Into John’s baptism,” they replied. ² 

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus,

I thank God ¹  that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,

so that no one can say that you were baptized in my name!
