holding to the mystery of the faith ¹  with a clear conscience.

influenced by the hypocrisy of liars ¹  whose consciences are seared. ² 

I do not mean yours but the other person’s. For why is my freedom being judged by another’s conscience?

Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath of the authorities ¹  but also because of your conscience. ² 

Eat anything that is sold in the marketplace without questions of conscience,

To do this ¹  you must hold firmly to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck in regard to the faith.

For this finds God’s favor, ¹  if because of conscience toward God ²  someone endures hardships in suffering unjustly.

This is the reason ¹  I do my best to always ²  have a clear ³  conscience toward God and toward people. ⁴ 

¹ I am telling the truth in Christ (I am not lying!), for my conscience assures me ²  in the Holy Spirit –

If you sin against your brothers or sisters ¹  in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

But the aim of our instruction ¹  is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith. ² 

For otherwise would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers would have been purified once for all and so have ¹  no further consciousness of sin?

Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to conduct ourselves rightly in every respect.

Paul looked directly ¹  at the council ²  and said, “Brothers, I have lived my life with a clear conscience ³  before God to this day.”

If an unbeliever invites you to dinner and you want to go, eat whatever is served without asking questions of conscience.

But if someone says to you, “This is from a sacrifice,” do not eat, because of the one who told you and because of conscience ¹  –

Therefore, because we know the fear of the Lord, ¹  we try to persuade ²  people, ³  but we are well known ⁴  to God, and I hope we are well known to your consciences too.

All is pure to those who are pure. But to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

This was a symbol for the time then present, when gifts and sacrifices were offered that could not perfect the conscience of the worshiper.

let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings, ¹  because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience ²  and our bodies washed in pure water.
