For since death came through a man, ¹  the resurrection of the dead also came through a man. ² 

“I do not accept ¹  praise ²  from people, ³ 

He said, “What comes out of a person defiles him.

The first man is from the earth, made of dust; the second man is from heaven.

For there is one God and one intermediary ¹  between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, himself human, ² 

Am I now trying to gain the approval of people, ¹  or of God? Or am I trying to please people? ²  If I were still trying to please ³  people, ⁴  I would not be a slave ⁵  of Christ!

We proclaim him by instructing ¹  and teaching ²  all people ³  with all wisdom so that we may present every person mature ⁴  in Christ.

and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. ¹

Then ¹  Jesus ²  said, “A man had two sons.

The officers replied, “No one ever spoke like this man!”

Now as Jesus was passing by, ¹  he saw a man who had been blind from birth.

For we consider that a person ¹  is declared righteous by faith apart from the works of the law. ² 

You were bought with a price. Do not become slaves of men.

Reject a divisive person after one or two warnings.

These are the things that defile a person; it is not eating with unwashed hands that defiles a person.” ¹ 

Then ¹  he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for people, ²  not people for the Sabbath.

Brothers and sisters, ¹  I offer an example from everyday life: ²  When a covenant ³  has been ratified, ⁴  even though it is only a human contract, no one can set it aside or add anything to it.

but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, ¹  by looking like other men, ²  and by sharing in human nature. ³
