that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples: ¹ 

All ¹  who were sitting in the council ²  looked intently at Stephen ³  and saw his face was like the face of an angel. ⁴ 

For now we see in a mirror indirectly, ¹  but then we will see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known.

But when we were separated from you, brothers and sisters, ¹  for a short time (in presence, not in affection) ²  we became all the more fervent in our great desire ³  to see you in person. ⁴ 

When ¹  you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face,

When the disciples heard this, they were overwhelmed with fear and threw themselves down with their faces to the ground. ¹ 

Then they spat in his face and struck him with their fists. And some slapped him,

but the villagers ¹  refused to welcome ²  him, because he was determined to go to Jerusalem. ³ 

For ¹  it will overtake ²  all who live on the face of the whole earth. ³ 

You have made known to me the paths of life; you will make me full of joy with your presence.’ ¹ 

But I was personally ¹  unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ.

and they will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.

But if the ministry that produced death – carved in letters on stone tablets ¹  – came with glory, so that the Israelites ²  could not keep their eyes fixed on the face of Moses because of the glory of his face ³  (a glory ⁴  which was made ineffective), ⁵ 

Now ¹  the locusts looked like horses equipped for battle. On ²  their heads were something like crowns similar to gold, ³  and their faces looked like men’s ⁴  faces.

He ¹  sent messengers on ahead of him. ²  As they went along, ³  they entered a Samaritan village to make things ready in advance ⁴  for him,

He ¹  fell with his face to the ground ²  at Jesus’ feet and thanked him. ³  (Now ⁴  he was a Samaritan.) ⁵ 

So they left the council rejoicing because they had been considered worthy ¹  to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name. ² 

Before ¹  Jesus ²  arrived, John ³  had proclaimed a baptism for repentance ⁴  to all the people of Israel.

Therefore show ¹  them openly before the churches the proof of your love and of our pride in you. ² 

But when Cephas ¹  came to Antioch, ²  I opposed him to his face, because he had clearly done wrong. ³
