After several years ¹  I came to bring to my people gifts for the poor ²  and to present offerings, ³ 

In those days John the Baptist came into the wilderness ¹  of Judea proclaiming,

Then Jesus came from Galilee to John to be baptized by him in the Jordan River. ¹ 

because a friend of mine has stopped here while on a journey, ¹  and I have nothing to set before ²  him.’

Do you think I have come to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division! ¹ 

So ¹  the first one came before him and said, ‘Sir, ²  your mina ³  has made ten minas more.’

But the officers ¹  who came for them ²  did not find them in the prison, so they returned and reported, ³ 

The next day Paul went in with us to see James, and all the elders were there. ¹ 

Then, when I arrive, I will send those whom you approve with letters of explanation to carry your gift to Jerusalem. ¹ 

At my first defense no one appeared in my support; instead they all deserted me – may they not be held accountable for it.

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem ¹  in Judea, in the time ²  of King Herod, ³  wise men ⁴  from the East came to Jerusalem ⁵ 

When ¹  they came ²  to Jesus, they urged ³  him earnestly, ⁴  “He is worthy ⁵  to have you do this for him,

Now Jesus’ ¹  mother and his brothers ²  came to him, but ³  they could not get near him because of the crowd.

Then ¹  Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, ²  and the elders who had come out to get him, “Have you come out with swords and clubs like you would against an outlaw? ³ 

John ¹  was also baptizing at Aenon near Salim, ²  because water was plentiful there, and people were coming ³  to him ⁴  and being baptized.

Early in the morning he came to the temple courts again. All the people came to him, and he sat down and began to teach ¹  them.

When he arrived in Jerusalem, ¹  he attempted to associate ²  with the disciples, and they were all afraid of him, because they did not believe ³  that he was a disciple.

When ¹  he came and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain true ²  to the Lord with devoted hearts, ³ 

Moving on from ¹  Perga, ²  they arrived at Pisidian Antioch, ³  and on the Sabbath day they went into ⁴  the synagogue ⁵  and sat down.

When they arrived and gathered the church together, they reported ¹  all the things God ²  had done with them, and that he had opened a door ³  of faith for the Gentiles.
