and since we have a great priest ¹  over the house of God,

as also in another place God ¹  says, “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.” ² 

And this is even clearer if another priest arises in the likeness of Melchizedek,

For here is the testimony about him: ¹  “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.” ² 

And since ¹  this was not done without a sworn affirmation – for the others have become priests without a sworn affirmation,

And the others ¹  who became priests were numerous, because death prevented them ²  from continuing in office, ³ 

Now by chance ¹  a priest was going down that road, but ²  when he saw the injured man ³  he passed by ⁴  on the other side. ⁵ 

For it is clear that our Lord is descended from Judah, yet Moses said nothing about priests in connection with that tribe.

Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest, since there are already priests who offer ¹  the gifts prescribed by the law.

So with these things prepared like this, the priests enter continually into the outer tent ¹  as they perform their duties.

You have appointed ¹  them ²  as a kingdom and priests ³  to serve ⁴  our God, and they will reign ⁵  on the earth.”

Or have you not read in the law that the priests in the temple desecrate the Sabbath and yet are not guilty?

When ¹  he saw them he said, “Go ²  and show yourselves to the priests.” ³  And ⁴  as they went along, they were cleansed.

The priest of the temple ¹  of Zeus, ²  located just outside the city, brought bulls ³  and garlands ⁴  to the city gates; he and the crowds wanted to offer sacrifices to them. ⁵ 

Without father, without mother, without genealogy, he has neither beginning of days nor end of life but is like the son of God, and he remains a priest for all time.

but Jesus ¹  did so ²  with a sworn affirmation by the one who said to him, “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever’” ³  –

And every priest stands day after day ¹  serving and offering the same sacrifices again and again – sacrifices that can never take away sins.

and has appointed ¹  us as a kingdom, ²  as priests ³  serving his God and Father – to him be the glory and the power for ever and ever! ⁴  Amen.

Then Jesus said to him, “See that you do not speak to anyone, ¹  but go, show yourself to a priest, and bring the offering ²  that Moses commanded, ³  as a testimony to them.” ⁴ 

how he entered the house of God and they ate ¹  the sacred bread, ²  which was against the law ³  for him or his companions to eat, but only for the priests? ⁴
