When the disciples saw it they were amazed, saying, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?”

Now when they heard this they were stunned, ¹  and they left him and went away.

But he did not answer even one accusation, so that the governor was quite amazed.

And he was amazed because of their unbelief. Then ¹  he went around among the villages and taught.

But Jesus made no further reply, so that Pilate was amazed.

and all who heard it were astonished ¹  at what the shepherds said.

The ¹  Pharisee was astonished when he saw that Jesus ²  did not first wash his hands ³  before the meal.

Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must all ¹  be born from above.’ ² 

Then the Jewish leaders ¹  were astonished ²  and said, “How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?” ³ 

Jesus replied, ¹  “I performed one miracle ²  and you are all amazed. ³ 

Therefore do not be surprised, brothers and sisters, ¹  if the world hates you. ² 

Pilate was surprised that he was already dead. He ¹  called the centurion and asked him if he had been dead for some time.

Now ¹  the people were waiting for Zechariah, and they began to wonder ²  why he was delayed in the holy place. ³ 

He ¹  asked for a writing tablet ²  and wrote, ³  “His name is John.” And they were all amazed. ⁴ 

So ¹  the child’s ²  father ³  and mother were amazed ⁴  at what was said about him.

Thus ¹  they were unable in the presence of the people to trap ²  him with his own words. ³  And stunned ⁴  by his answer, they fell silent.

And while they still could not believe it ¹  (because of their joy) and were amazed, ²  he said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” ³ 

Completely baffled, they said, ¹  “Aren’t ²  all these who are speaking Galileans?

When Moses saw it, he was amazed at the sight, and when he approached to investigate, there came the voice of the Lord,

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one ¹  who called you by the grace of Christ ²  and are following ³  a different ⁴  gospel –
