Now ¹  the locusts looked like horses equipped for battle. On ²  their heads were something like crowns similar to gold, ³  and their faces looked like men’s ⁴  faces.

but each had four faces and four wings.

Those who look to him for help are happy; their faces are not ashamed. ¹ 

Cover ¹  their faces with shame, so they might seek ²  you, ³  O Lord.

People ¹  writhe in fear when they see them. ²  All of their faces turn pale with fright. ³ 

As for the form of their faces, they were the faces whose appearance I had seen at the Kebar River. Each one moved straight ahead.

Then Moses and Aaron fell down with their faces to the ground ¹  before the whole assembled community ²  of the Israelites.

Each had four faces; each had four wings and the form of human hands under the wings.

It was made with cherubim and decorative palm trees, with a palm tree between each cherub. Each cherub had two faces:

“I have made your face adamant ¹  to match their faces, and your forehead hard to match their foreheads.

They had human hands ¹  under their wings on their four sides. As for the faces and wings of the four of them,

All of them intend ¹  to do violence; every face is determined. ²  They take prisoners as easily as one scoops up sand. ³ 

Destruction, devastation, and desolation! ¹  Their hearts faint, ²  their knees tremble, ³  each stomach churns, ⁴  each face ⁵  turns ⁶  pale! ⁷ 

The ¹  women ²  were terribly frightened ³  and bowed ⁴  their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living ⁵  among the dead?

Then ¹  the twenty-four elders who are seated on their thrones before God threw themselves down with their faces to the ground ²  and worshiped God

For you make them retreat ¹  when you shoot your arrows at them. ²
