For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’ ¹ 

Those who are champions ¹  at drinking wine are as good as dead, ²  who display great courage when mixing strong drinks.

For John the Baptist has come ¹  eating no bread and drinking no wine, ²  and you say, ‘He has a demon!’ ³ 

They spent three days feasting ¹  there with David, for their relatives had given them provisions.

¹  No ²  one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, ‘The old is good enough.’” ³

While this one was still speaking another messenger arrived and said, “Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,
