As ¹  water disappears from the sea, ²  or a river drains away and dries up,

As ¹  a cloud is dispersed and then disappears, ²  so the one who goes down to the grave ³  does not come up again. ⁴ 

But the garment or the warp or the woof or any article of leather which you wash and infection disappears from it ¹  is to be washed a second time and it will be clean.”

What am I going to do with you, O Ephraim? What am I going to do with you, O Judah? For ¹  your faithfulness is as fleeting as the morning mist; ²  it disappears as quickly as dawn’s dew! ³ 

Therefore they will disappear like ¹  the morning mist, ²  like early morning dew that evaporates, ³  like chaff that is blown away ⁴  from a threshing floor, like smoke that disappears through an open window.

When they are scorched, ¹  they dry up, when it is hot, they vanish ²  from their place.

People ¹  are like a vapor, their days like a shadow that disappears. ² 

but when what is perfect ¹  comes, the partial will be set aside.

I ¹  have refused ²  to touch such things; ³  they are like loathsome food to me. ⁴ 

They glide by ¹  like reed ²  boats, like an eagle that swoops ³  down on its prey. ⁴ 

but when the hot wind ¹  blows by, it disappears, and one can no longer even spot the place where it once grew.

Wealth gained quickly ¹  will dwindle away, ²  but the one who gathers it little by little ³  will become rich. ⁴ 

When the hay is removed and new grass appears, and the grass from the hills is gathered in,

Our food has been cut off right before our eyes! ¹  There is no longer any joy or gladness in the temple of our God! ² 

Your plunder ¹  disappears as if locusts were eating it; ²  they swarm over it like locusts! ³ 

For whoever has will be given more, and will have an abundance. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. ¹ 

And the world is passing away with all its desires, but the person who does the will of God remains ¹  forever.

For the living know that they will die, but the dead do not know anything; they have no further reward – and even the memory of them disappears. ¹ 

before God’s decree becomes reality ¹  and the day of opportunity disappears like windblown chaff, ²  before the Lord’s raging anger ³  overtakes ⁴  you – before the day of the Lord’s angry judgment overtakes you!

Do not work for the food that disappears, ¹  but for the food that remains to eternal life – the food ²  which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has put his seal of approval on him.” ³
