For I was afraid of you, because you are a severe ¹  man. You withdraw ²  what you did not deposit ³  and reap what you did not sow.’

“When a person sins and commits a trespass ¹  against the Lord by deceiving his fellow citizen ²  in regard to something held in trust, or a pledge, or something stolen, or by extorting something from his fellow citizen, ³ 

when it happens that he sins and he is found guilty, ¹  then he must return whatever he had stolen, or whatever he had extorted, or the thing that he had held in trust, ²  or the lost thing that he had found,

The king ¹  said to him, ‘I will judge you by your own words, ²  you wicked slave! ³  So you knew, did you, that I was a severe ⁴  man, withdrawing what I didn’t deposit and reaping what I didn’t sow?

You must place them ¹  in the tent of meeting before the ark of the covenant ²  where I meet with you.

who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a down payment. ¹ 

Protect that good thing ¹  entrusted to you, through the Holy Spirit who lives within us.

He said to him, “Take these vessels and go deposit them in the temple in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be rebuilt in its proper location.” ¹ 

Why then didn’t you put ¹  my money in the bank, ²  so that when I returned I could have collected it with interest?’

O Timothy, protect what has been entrusted to you. Avoid ¹  the profane chatter and absurdities ²  of so-called “knowledge.” ³ 

The punishment ¹  of Ephraim has been decreed; ²  his punishment is being stored up for the future.

Take a man’s ¹  garment ²  when he has given security for a stranger, ³  and when he gives surety for strangers, ⁴  hold him ⁵  in pledge.

“‘Then a man who is ceremonially clean must gather up the ashes of the red heifer and put them in a ceremonially clean place outside the camp. They must be kept ¹  for the community of the Israelites for use in the water of purification ²  – it is a purification for sin. ³ 

He replied, “I’ll send you a young goat from the flock.” She asked, “Will you give me a pledge until you send it?” ¹ 

At the end of every three years you must bring all the tithe of your produce, in that very year, and you must store it up in your villages.

Take a man’s ¹  garment when he has given security for a stranger, and when he gives surety for a stranger, ²  hold him in pledge. ³ 

It has tried my patience; ¹  yet its thick rot is not removed ²  from it. Subject its rot to the fire! ³ 

Then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, ¹  and on my return I would have received my money back with interest! ² 

Now the one who prepared us for this very purpose ¹  is God, who gave us the Spirit as a down payment. ² 

who is the down payment ¹  of our inheritance, until the redemption of God’s own possession, ²  to the praise of his glory.
