I rejoice because in everything I am fully confident in you.

So do not throw away your confidence, because it ¹  has great reward.

Is not your piety ¹  your confidence, ²  and your blameless ways your hope? ³ 

– though mine too are significant. ¹  If someone thinks he has good reasons to put confidence in human credentials, ²  I have more:

for the Lord will be ¹  the source of your confidence, ²  and he will guard your foot ³  from being caught in a trap. ⁴ 

In the fear of the Lord one has ¹  strong confidence, ²  and it will be a refuge ³  for his children.

And we are confident about you in the Lord that you are both doing – and will do – what we are commanding.

Dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have confidence in the presence of God,

Now we have such confidence in God through Christ.

“If I have put my confidence in gold or said to pure gold, ‘You are my security!’

whose ¹  trust ²  is in something futile, ³  whose security is a spider’s web. ⁴ 

It is better to take shelter ¹  in the Lord than to trust in people.

It is better to take shelter in the Lord than to trust in princes.

Like a bad tooth or a foot out of joint, ¹  so is confidence ²  in an unfaithful person at the time of trouble. ³ 

What I am saying with this boastful confidence ¹  I do not say the way the Lord would. ²  Instead it is, as it were, foolishness.

in whom we have boldness and confident access ¹  to God ²  because of ³  Christ’s ⁴  faithfulness. ⁵ 

Therefore, brothers and sisters, ¹  since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus,

For we are the circumcision, ¹  the ones who worship by the Spirit of God, ²  exult in Christ Jesus, and do not rely on human credentials ³
