The breath of God produces ice, and the breadth of the waters freeze solid.

He does not allow ¹  me to recover ²  my breath, for he fills ³  me with bitterness.

If God ¹  were to set his heart on it, ²  and gather in his spirit and his breath,

Its breath sets coals ablaze and a flame shoots from its mouth.

for while ¹  my spirit ²  is still in me, and the breath from God is in my nostrils,

By the breath ¹  of God they perish, ²  and by the blast ³  of his anger they are consumed.

My breath is repulsive ¹  to my wife; I am loathsome ²  to my brothers. ³ 

Everything on dry land that had the breath of life ¹  in its nostrils died.

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life. ¹ 

People ¹  are like a vapor, their days like a shadow that disappears. ² 

Pairs ¹  of all creatures ²  that have the breath of life came into the ark to Noah.

in whose hand ¹  is the life ²  of every creature and the breath of all the human race. ³ 

But it is a spirit in people, the breath ¹  of the Almighty, that makes them understand.

Stop trusting in human beings, whose life’s breath is in their nostrils. For why should they be given special consideration?

You conceive straw, ¹  you give birth to chaff; your breath is a fire that destroys you. ² 

He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, ¹  – prophesy, son of man – and say to the breath: ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these corpses so that they may live.’”

As I watched, I saw ¹  tendons on them, then muscles appeared, ²  and skin covered over them from above, but there was no breath ³  in them.

Remember ¹  that my life is but a breath, that ²  my eyes will never again ³  see happiness.

The grass dries up, the flowers wither, when the wind sent by the Lord ¹  blows on them. Surely humanity ²  is like grass.

The depths ¹  of the sea were exposed; the inner regions ²  of the world were uncovered by the Lord’s battle cry, ³  by the powerful breath from his nose. ⁴
