ד (Dalet) To me he is like a bear lying in ambush, ¹  like a hidden lion ²  stalking its prey. ³ 

I wish that you would be patient with me in a little foolishness, but indeed you are being patient with me!

He takes away ¹  every branch that does not bear ²  fruit in me. He ³  prunes ⁴  every branch that bears ⁵  fruit so that it will bear more fruit.

A good tree is not able to bear bad fruit, nor a bad tree to bear good fruit.

he makes the Bear, ¹  Orion, ²  and the Pleiades, ³  and the constellations of the southern sky; ⁴ 

Under three things the earth trembles, ¹  and under four things it cannot bear up:

Then Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment ¹  is too great to endure! ² 

It is good for a man ¹  to bear ²  the yoke ³  while he is young. ⁴ 

“You shall not give ¹  false testimony ²  against your neighbor.

You must not offer false testimony against another. ¹

Can you lead out the constellations ¹  in their seasons, or guide the Bear with its cubs? ² 

It is better for a person to meet ¹  a mother bear being robbed of her cubs, than ²  to encounter ³  a fool in his folly. ⁴ 

Like ¹  a roaring lion or a roving bear, ²  so is a wicked ruler over a poor people. ³

Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

A person’s spirit ¹  sustains him through sickness – but who can bear ²  a crushed spirit? ³
