So submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you.

You have condemned and murdered the righteous person, although he does not resist you. ¹ 

But I say to you, do not resist the evildoer. ¹  But whoever strikes you on the ²  right cheek, turn the other to him as well.

Resist him, ¹  strong in your faith, because you know ²  that your brothers and sisters ³  throughout the world ⁴  are enduring ⁵  the same kinds of suffering. ⁶ 

So the person who resists such authority ¹  resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will incur judgment

Yet ¹  they were not able to resist ²  the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.

“You stubborn ¹  people, with uncircumcised ²  hearts and ears! ³  You are always resisting the Holy Spirit, like your ancestors ⁴  did!

You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who has ever resisted his will?”

For I will give you the words ¹  along with the wisdom ²  that none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.

For this reason, take up the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand your ground ¹  on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand.

Now you are declaring that you will resist the Lord’s rule through the Davidic dynasty. ¹  You have a huge army, ²  and bring with you the gold calves that Jeroboam made for you as gods.

Then with smooth words he will defile ¹  those who have rejected ²  the covenant. But the people who are loyal to ³  their God will act valiantly. ⁴ 

And just as Jannes and Jambres ¹  opposed Moses, so these people – who have warped minds and are disqualified in the faith ²  – also oppose the truth.

Lawless good-for-nothing men ¹  gathered around him and conspired ²  against Rehoboam son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was an inexperienced young man ³  and could not resist them.

נ (Nun) My sins are bound around my neck like a yoke; ¹  they are fastened together by his hand. He has placed his yoke ²  on my neck; ³  he has sapped my strength. ⁴  The Lord ⁵  has handed me over ⁶  to those whom I cannot resist.

It looks on every haughty being; it is king over all that are proud.” ¹ 

O Lord, do I not hate those who hate you, and despise those who oppose you? ¹ 

Those who forsake the law ¹  praise the wicked, ²  but those who keep the law contend ³  with them.

Surely the king’s authority ¹  is absolute; ²  no one can say ³  to him, “What are you doing?”

But Jesus said, ¹  “Enough of this!” And he touched the man’s ²  ear and healed ³  him.
