beside the gates opening into ¹  the city, at the entrance of the doorways she cries out: ² 

Look, the pay you have held back from the workers who mowed your fields cries out against you, and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.

at the head of the noisy ¹  streets she calls, in the entrances of the gates in the city ²  she utters her words: ³ 

Wisdom ¹  calls out ²  in the street, she shouts loudly ³  in the plazas; ⁴ 

Israel cries out to me, “My God, we acknowledge you!”

And Isaiah cries out on behalf of Israel, “Though the number of the children ¹  of Israel are as the sand of the sea, only the remnant will be saved,

for it is his only covering – it is his garment for his body. ¹  What else can he sleep in? ²  And ³  when he cries out to me, I will hear, for I am gracious.

“If my land cried out against me ²  and all its furrows wept together,

Cries of anguish will arise in Horonaim, ‘Oh, the ruin and great destruction!’

As when a pregnant woman gets ready to deliver and strains and cries out because of her labor pains, so were we because of you, O Lord.

The one who shuts his ears ¹  to the cry ²  of the poor, he too will cry out and will not be answered. ³ 

Yes, ¹  here is what he says: “You hear cries of panic and of terror; there is no peace in sight. ² 

a day of trumpet blasts ¹  and battle cries. ²  Judgment will fall on ³  the fortified cities and the high corner towers.

A voice cries out, “In the wilderness clear a way for the Lord; construct in the desert a road for our God.

Indeed they will climb the slopes of Luhith, weeping continually as they go. ¹  For on the road down to Horonaim they will hear the cries of distress over the destruction. ² 

Yet he took notice of their distress, when he heard their cry for help.

During his earthly life ¹  Christ ²  offered ³  both requests and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death and he was heard because of his devotion.

But the Lord said, “What have you done? ¹  The voice ²  of your brother’s blood is crying out to me from the ground!

From the city the dying ¹  groan, and the wounded ²  cry out for help, but God charges no one with wrongdoing. ³ 

At the sound of the trumpet, it says, ‘Aha!’ And from a distance it catches the scent of battle, the thunderous shouting of commanders, and the battle cries.
