“‘No man is to approach any close relative ¹  to have sexual intercourse with her. ²  I am the Lord. ³ 

“‘You must not approach a woman in her menstrual impurity ¹  to have sexual intercourse with her.

I would give him an accounting of my steps; like a prince I would approach him.

You must not expose the nakedness of your father’s brother; you must not approach his wife to have sexual intercourse with her. ¹  She is your aunt. ² 

One of their own people will be their leader. Their ruler will come from their own number. ¹  I will invite him to approach me, and he will do so. ²  For no one would dare approach me on his own. ³  I, the Lord, affirm it! ⁴ 

I and all the troops ¹  who are with me will approach the city. When they come out to fight us like before, we will retreat from them.

As you move forward for battle, the priest ¹  will approach and say to the soldiers, ² 

When you approach a city to wage war against it, offer it terms of peace.

Certainly ¹  no man who has a physical flaw is to approach: a blind man, or one who is lame, or one with a slit nose, ²  or a limb too long,

They will enter my sanctuary, and approach my table to minister to me; they will keep my charge.

“Tell Aaron, ‘No man from your descendants throughout their generations ¹  who has a physical flaw ²  is to approach to present the food of his God.

Let the priests also, who approach the Lord, sanctify themselves, lest the Lord break through ¹  against them.”

It ranks first among the works of God, ¹  the One who made it has furnished it with a sword. ² 

¹ His thunder announces the coming storm, the cattle also, concerning the storm’s approach.

When they enter ¹  the tent of meeting, they must wash with ²  water so that they do not die. ³  Also, when they approach ⁴  the altar to minister by burning incense ⁵  as an offering made by fire ⁶  to the Lord,

but he must not go into the veil-canopy ¹  or step forward to the altar because he has a physical flaw. Thus ²  he must not profane my holy places, for I am the Lord who sanctifies them.’”

Therefore let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace whenever we need help. ¹ 

They approach him, all the while plotting against him. Their hearts are like an oven; their anger smolders all night long, but in the morning it bursts into a flaming fire.

Who can uncover its outer covering? ¹  Who can penetrate to the inside of its armor? ² 

The coastlands ¹  see and are afraid; the whole earth ²  trembles; they approach and come.
