Solomon worshiped ¹  the Sidonian goddess Astarte and the detestable Ammonite god Milcom. ² 

It was some time after this when the Ammonites fought with Israel.

“Son of man, turn toward ¹  the Ammonites ²  and prophesy against them.

(That also is considered to be a land of the Rephaites. ¹  The Rephaites lived there originally; the Ammonites call them Zamzummites. ² 

I will hand it over, ¹  along with the Ammonites, ²  to the tribes ³  of the east, so that the Ammonites will no longer be remembered among the nations.

Later the king of the Ammonites died and his son Hanun succeeded him. ¹ 

¹ So Joab fought against Rabbah of the Ammonites and captured the royal city.

He launched a military campaign ¹  against the king of the Ammonites and defeated them. That year the Ammonites paid him 100 talents ²  of silver, 10,000 kors ³  of wheat, and 10,000 kors ⁴  of barley. The Ammonites also paid this same amount of annual tribute the next two years. ⁵ 

The Ammonites paid tribute to Uzziah and his fame reached ¹  the border of Egypt, for he grew in power.

They said, ¹  “Come, be our commander, so we can fight with the Ammonites.”

Jephthah approached ¹  the Ammonites to fight with them, and the Lord handed them over to him.

Later King Nahash of the Ammonites died and his son succeeded him.

When the Ammonites saw the Arameans flee, they fled before his brother Abishai and went into the city. Joab withdrew from fighting the Ammonites and returned to ¹  Jerusalem. ² 

Later the Moabites and Ammonites, along with some of the Meunites, ¹  attacked Jehoshaphat.

But Ishmael son of Nethaniah managed to escape from Johanan along with eight of his men, and he went on over to Ammon.

When the Ammonites realized that David was disgusted with them, ¹  Hanun and the Ammonites sent 1,000 talents ²  of silver to hire chariots and charioteers from Aram Naharaim, Aram Maacah, and Zobah. ³ 

(4:1) ¹  When Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the people of Ashdod heard that the restoration of the walls of Jerusalem ²  had moved ahead and that the breaches had begun to be closed, they were very angry.

The Lord spoke about the Ammonites. ¹  “Do you think there are not any people of the nation of Israel remaining? Do you think there are not any of them remaining to reinherit their land? Is that why you people who worship the god Milcom ²  have taken possession of the territory of Gad and live in his cities? ³

Yet in days to come I will reverse Ammon’s ill fortune.” ¹  says the Lord. ²
