Yet Jesus himself ¹  frequently withdrew ²  to the wilderness ³  and prayed.

After going out from there, Jesus went to the region of Tyre ¹  and Sidon. ² 

Then ¹  Jesus went away with his disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him. ²  And from Judea,

He went away from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and prayed,

You withdrew all your fury; you turned back from your raging anger. ¹ 

Now when Jesus ¹  heard that John had been imprisoned, ²  he went into Galilee.

So the whole community of the Israelites went out from the presence of Moses.

At that time the Babylonian forces ¹  had temporarily given up their siege against Jerusalem. ²  They had had it under siege, but withdrew when they heard that the army of Pharaoh had set out from Egypt. ³ )

When ¹  the apostles returned, ²  they told Jesus ³  everything they had done. Then ⁴  he took them with him and they withdrew privately to a town ⁵  called Bethsaida. ⁶ 

Then Jesus, because he knew they were going to come and seize him by force to make him king, withdrew again up the mountainside alone. ¹ 

Now when Jesus learned of this, he went away from there. Great ¹  crowds ²  followed him, and he healed them all.

Now when Jesus heard this he went away from there privately in a boat to an isolated place. But when the crowd heard about it, ¹  they followed him on foot from the towns. ² 

Then Saul stopped chasing the Philistines, and the Philistines went back home. ¹ 

So all the men of Israel deserted ¹  David and followed Sheba son of Bicri. But the men of Judah stuck by their king all the way from the Jordan River ²  to Jerusalem. ³ 

But I refrained from doing so, ¹  and acted instead for the sake of my reputation, so that I would not be profaned before the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.

So he took his firstborn son, who was to succeed him as king, and offered him up as a burnt sacrifice on the wall. There was an outburst of divine anger against Israel, ¹  so they broke off the attack ²  and returned to their homeland.

Then those who were about to interrogate him stayed away ¹  from him, and the commanding officer ²  was frightened when he realized that Paul ³  was ⁴  a Roman citizen ⁵  and that he had had him tied up. ⁶ 

When Baasha heard the news, he stopped fortifying ¹  Ramah and settled down in Tirzah.

the young men would see me and step aside, ¹  and the old men would get up and remain standing;

Then Ezra got up from in front of the temple of God and went to the room of Jehohanan son of Eliashib. While he stayed ¹  there, he did not eat food or drink water, for he was in mourning over the infidelity of the exiles.
