He has taken away my strength in the middle of life; ¹  he has cut short my days.

Look how you have fallen from the sky, O shining one, son of the dawn! ¹  You have been cut down to the ground, O conqueror ²  of the nations! ³

Israel was so severely weakened by Midian that the Israelites cried out to the Lord for help.

The people regretted what had happened to ¹  Benjamin because the Lord had weakened ²  the Israelite tribes.

But man ¹  dies and is powerless; ²  he expires – and where is he? ³ 

Why ¹  has your heart carried you away, ²  and why do your eyes flash, ³ 

but, despite their wealth, people do not last, ¹  they are like animals ²  that perish. ³ 

Wealthy people do not understand; ¹  they are like animals ²  that perish. ³ 

Many times he delivered ¹  them, but they had a rebellious attitude, ²  and degraded themselves ³  by their sin.

I will be like a moth to Ephraim, like wood rot ¹  to the house of Judah.

It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

But you, brothers and sisters, ¹  do not grow weary in doing what is right.

Therefore, strengthen ¹  your listless hands and your weak knees, ² 

When all the land of Egypt experienced the famine, the people cried out to Pharaoh for food. Pharaoh said to all the people of Egypt, ¹  “Go to Joseph and do whatever he tells you.”
