My people will live in peaceful settlements, in secure homes, and in safe, quiet places. ¹ 

When a strong man, ¹  fully armed, guards his own palace, ²  his possessions are safe. ³ 

The king ¹  said, “Leave it alone! No one must touch his bones.” So they left his bones undisturbed, as well as the bones of the Israelite prophet buried beside him. ² 

There ¹  the prisoners ²  relax ³  together; ⁴  they do not hear the voice of the oppressor. ⁵ 

“From its earliest days Moab has lived undisturbed. It has never been taken into exile. Its people are like wine allowed to settle undisturbed on its dregs, never poured out from one jar to another. They are like wine which tastes like it always did, whose aroma has remained unchanged. ¹ 

Israel humiliated Moab that day, and the land had rest for eighty years.

All the people of the land celebrated, for the city had rest now that they had killed Athaliah. ¹ 

A tranquil spirit ¹  revives the body, ²  but envy ³  is rottenness to the bones. ⁴ 

All your children will be followers of the Lord, and your children will enjoy great prosperity. ¹ 

Israel lives in safety, the fountain of Jacob is quite secure, ¹  in a land of grain and new wine; indeed, its heavens ²  rain down dew. ³ 

The Israelites humiliated Midian; the Midianites’ fighting spirit was broken. ¹  The land had rest for forty years during Gideon’s time. ² 

All the people of the land celebrated, for the city had rest now that they had killed Athaliah with the sword in the royal palace.

They found fertile and rich pasture; the land was very broad, undisturbed and peaceful. Indeed some Hamites had been living there prior to that.

(13:23) ¹  Abijah passed away ²  and was buried in the City of David. ³  His son Asa replaced him as king. During his reign ⁴  the land had rest for ten years.

He removed the high places and the incense altars from all the cities of Judah. The kingdom had rest under his rule. ¹ 

He built fortified cities throughout Judah, for the land was at rest and there was no war during those years; the Lord gave him peace.

But ¹  the tents of robbers are peaceful, and those who provoke God are confident ²  – who carry their god in their hands. ³ 

Once again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria. ¹  Those who plant them will once again enjoy their fruit. ² 

Then ¹  he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. ²  Go in peace.”

And what you learned and received and heard and saw in me, do these things. And the God of peace will be with you.
