The fountains of the deep and the floodgates of heaven were closed, ¹  and the rain stopped falling from the sky.

Springs ¹  would well up ²  from the earth and water ³  the whole surface of the ground. ⁴ 

But you were brought down ¹  to Sheol, to the remote slopes of the pit. ² 

The water made it grow; underground springs made it grow tall. Rivers flowed all around the place it was planted, while smaller channels watered all the trees of the field. ¹ 

He broke open rocks in the wilderness, and gave them enough water to fill the depths of the sea. ¹ 

If I were to ascend ¹  to heaven, you would be there. If I were to sprawl out in Sheol, there you would be. ² 

When the wicked gain control, ¹  people ²  hide themselves, ³  but when they perish, ⁴  the righteous increase.

So ¹  Jeremiah was put in prison in a cell in the dungeon in Jonathan’s house. ²  He ³  was kept there for a long time.

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month – on that day all the fountains of the great deep ¹  burst open and the floodgates of the heavens ²  were opened.

For the Lord your God is bringing you to a good land, a land of brooks, ¹  springs, and fountains flowing forth in valleys and hills,
