and so, somehow, ¹  to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

But be careful that this liberty of yours does not become a hindrance to the weak.

and I always ask ¹  in my prayers, if perhaps now at last I may succeed in visiting you according to the will of God. ² 

if somehow I could provoke my people to jealousy and save some of them.

Because the harbor was not suitable to spend the winter in, the majority decided ¹  to put out to sea ²  from there. They hoped that ³  somehow they could reach ⁴  Phoenix, ⁵  a harbor of Crete facing ⁶  southwest and northwest, and spend the winter there.
