The fatherless child is snatched ¹  from the breast, ²  the infant of the poor is taken as a pledge. ³ 

If he snatches away, ¹  who can turn him back? ²  Who dares to say to him, ‘What are you doing?’

I give ¹  them eternal life, and they will never perish; ²  no one will snatch ³  them from my hand.

men ¹  who were carried off ²  before their time, ³  when the flood ⁴  was poured out ⁵  on their foundations? ⁶ 

My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, ¹  and no one can snatch ²  them from my Father’s hand.

save ¹  others by snatching them out of the fire; have mercy ²  on others, coupled with a fear of God, ³  hating even the clothes stained ⁴  by the flesh. ⁵ 

The drought as well as the heat carry away the melted snow; ¹  so the grave ²  takes away those who have sinned. ³ 

When anyone hears the word about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one ¹  comes and snatches what was sown in his heart; ²  this is the seed sown along the path.

“I overthrew some of you the way God ¹  overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. ²  You were like a burning stick ³  snatched from the flames. Still you did not come back to me.” The Lord is speaking!

Yet ¹  God will make you a permanent heap of ruins. ²  He will scoop you up ³  and remove you from your home; ⁴  he will uproot you from the land of the living. (Selah)

They devoured ¹  on the right, but were still hungry, they ate on the left, but were not satisfied. People even ate ²  the flesh of their own arm! ³ 

He also killed an impressive-looking Egyptian. ¹  The Egyptian wielded a spear, while Benaiah attacked ²  him with a club. He grabbed the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with his own spear.

Terrors overwhelm him like a flood; ¹  at night a whirlwind carries him off.

I broke the fangs ¹  of the wicked, and made him drop ²  his prey from his teeth.

But ¹  God will rescue ²  my life ³  from the power ⁴  of Sheol; certainly ⁵  he will pull me to safety. ⁶  (Selah)

Do not completely deprive me of a truthful testimony, ¹  for I await your justice.

If you do not have enough to pay, your bed ¹  will be taken ²  right out from under you! ³ 

The hired hand, ¹  who is not a shepherd and does not own sheep, sees the wolf coming and abandons ²  the sheep and runs away. ³  So the wolf attacks ⁴  the sheep and scatters them.

May those who are trying to snatch away my life be totally embarrassed and ashamed! ¹  May those who want to harm me be turned back and ashamed! ² 

The Lord ¹  said to Satan, “May the Lord rebuke you, Satan! May the Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, ²  rebuke you! Isn’t this man like a burning stick snatched from the fire?”
