at the scent ¹  of water it will flourish ²  and put forth ³  shoots like a new plant.

Your lips drip sweetness like the honeycomb, my bride, honey and milk are under your tongue. The fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.

His cheeks are like garden beds full of balsam trees ¹  yielding ²  perfume. His lips are like lilies dripping with drops of myrrh.

I want ¹  to climb the palm tree, ²  and take hold of its fruit stalks. May your breasts be like the clusters of grapes, ³  and may the fragrance of your breath be like apricots! ⁴ 

People will reside again ¹  in his shade; they will plant and harvest grain in abundance. ²  They will blossom like a vine, and his fame will be like the wine from Lebanon.

At the sound of the trumpet, it says, ‘Aha!’ And from a distance it catches the scent of battle, the thunderous shouting of commanders, and the battle cries.

cargo such as gold, silver, ¹  precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple cloth, silk, ²  scarlet cloth, ³  all sorts of things made of citron wood, ⁴  all sorts of objects made of ivory, all sorts of things made of expensive wood, bronze, iron and marble,

My beloved is like a fragrant pouch of myrrh ¹  spending the night ²  between my breasts.

Your shoots are a royal garden ¹  full of pomegranates with choice fruits: henna with nard,

For we are a sweet aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing –

Whoever makes perfume like it and whoever puts any of it on someone not a priest ¹  will be cut off ²  from his people.’”

The Lord said to Moses: “Take ¹  spices, gum resin, ²  onycha, ³  galbanum, ⁴  and pure frankincense ⁵  of equal amounts ⁶ 

All your garments are perfumed with ¹  myrrh, aloes, and cassia. From the luxurious palaces ²  comes the music of stringed instruments that makes you happy. ³ 

The Speaker: ¹  Who is this coming up from the desert like a column of smoke, like ²  a fragrant billow ³  of myrrh and frankincense, ⁴  every kind of fragrant powder ⁵  of the traveling merchants? ⁶ 

How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine; the fragrance of your perfume is better than any spice!
