these are only ¹  the shadow of the things to come, but the reality ²  is Christ! ³ 

For the law possesses a shadow of the good things to come but not the reality itself, and is therefore completely unable, by the same sacrifices offered continually, year after year, to perfect those who come to worship. ¹ 

To impart ¹  shrewdness ²  to the morally naive, ³  and ⁴  a discerning ⁵  plan ⁶  to the young person. ⁷ 

Sprinkle me ¹  with water ²  and I will be pure; ³  wash me ⁴  and I will be whiter than snow. ⁵ 

Don’t you realize the Lord’s day of judgment will bring ¹  darkness, not light – gloomy blackness, not bright light?

Instead, pursue ¹  his ²  kingdom, ³  and these things will be given to you as well.

God is spirit, ¹  and the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

because what can be known about God is plain to them, ¹  because God has made it plain to them.

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see.

And by this ¹  we will know that we are of the truth and will convince ²  our conscience ³  in his presence, ⁴ 

For now we see in a mirror indirectly, ¹  but then we will see face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known.

“To ¹  the angel of the church in Sardis write the following: ²  “This is the solemn pronouncement of ³  the one who holds ⁴  the seven spirits of God and the seven stars: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a reputation ⁵  that you are alive, but ⁶  in reality ⁷  you are dead.

So now, O Lord God, make this promise you have made about your servant and his family a permanent reality. ¹  Do as you promised, ²

You who tear yourself ¹  to pieces in your anger, will the earth be abandoned ²  for your sake? Or will a rock be moved from its place? ³ 

It is best to take hold of one warning ¹  without letting go of the other warning; ²  for the one who fears God will follow ³  both warnings. ⁴ 

The Lord who rules over all ¹  spoke about Edom. ²  “Is wisdom no longer to be found in Teman? ³  Can Edom’s counselors not give her any good advice? ⁴  Has all of their wisdom turned bad? ⁵ 

Wake up, you drunkards, ¹  and weep! Wail, all you wine drinkers, ²  because the sweet wine ³  has been taken away ⁴  from you. ⁵ 

But above all pursue his kingdom ¹  and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds have been done in God. ¹
