I lay flat on the ground before the Lord for forty days and nights, ¹  for he ²  had said he would destroy you.

I can see the evildoers! They have fallen! ¹  They have been knocked down and are unable to get up! ² 

Then I again fell down before the Lord for forty days and nights; I ate and drank nothing because of all the sin you had committed, doing such evil before the Lord as to enrage him.

But man ¹  dies and is powerless; ²  he expires – and where is he? ³ 

I am dazed ¹  and completely humiliated; ²  all day long I walk around mourning.

He ¹  fell with his face to the ground ²  at Jesus’ feet and thanked him. ³  (Now ⁴  he was a Samaritan.) ⁵ 

David told the entire assembly: “Praise the Lord your God!” So the entire assembly praised the Lord God of their ancestors; they bowed down and stretched out flat on the ground before the Lord and the king.

“Your servant our father is well,” they replied. “He is still alive.” They bowed down in humility. ¹ 

So the Tekoan woman went ¹  to the king. She bowed down with her face to the ground in deference to him and said, “Please help me, ²  O king!”

Then King Nebuchadnezzar bowed down with his face to the ground ¹  and paid homage to Daniel. He gave orders to offer sacrifice and incense to him.

This is what the Lord, the protector ¹  of Israel, their Holy One, ²  says to the one who is despised ³  and rejected ⁴  by nations, ⁵  a servant of rulers: “Kings will see and rise in respect, ⁶  princes will bow down, because of the faithful Lord, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen you.”

Bathsheba bowed down on the floor before ¹  the king. The king said, “What do you want?”

God does not restrain his anger; ¹  under him the helpers of Rahab ²  lie crushed. ³ 

In their streets they wear sackcloth; on their roofs and in their town squares all of them wail, they fall down weeping.

Even if the forest is destroyed ¹  and the city is annihilated, ² 

Then ¹  one of the synagogue rulers, ²  named Jairus, ³  came up, and when he saw Jesus, ⁴  he fell at his feet.

And the four living creatures were saying “Amen,” and the elders threw themselves to the ground ¹  and worshiped.

Afterward David got up and went out of the cave. He called out after Saul, “My lord, O king!” When Saul looked behind him, David kneeled down and bowed with his face to the ground.

On the third day a man arrived from the camp of Saul with his clothes torn and dirt on his head. ¹  When he approached David, the man ²  threw himself to the ground. ³ 

When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed low with his face toward the ground. ¹  David said, “Mephibosheth?” He replied, “Yes, at your service.” ²
