When your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ ¹  –

They ¹  came to a place called Golgotha ²  (which means “Place of the Skull”) ³ 

Abimelech asked Abraham, “What is the meaning of these ¹  seven ewe lambs that you have set apart?”

They brought Jesus ¹  to a place called Golgotha ²  (which is translated, “Place of the Skull”). ³ 

When your people ¹  say to you, ‘Will you not tell us what these things mean?’

All were astounded and greatly confused, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”

For you are bringing some surprising things ¹  to our ears, so we want to know what they ²  mean.”

If then I do not know the meaning of a language, I will be a foreigner to the speaker and the speaker a foreigner to me.

“Now the parable means ¹  this: The seed is the word of God.

Now if their transgression means riches for the world and their defeat means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full restoration ¹  bring?

Then the people said to me, “Will you not tell us what these things you are doing mean for us?”

Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She ¹  turned and said to him in Aramaic, ²  “Rabboni” ³  (which means Teacher). ⁴ 

So Joseph, a Levite who was a native of Cyprus, called by the apostles Barnabas (which is translated “son of encouragement”), ¹ 

There are probably many kinds of languages in the world, and none is without meaning.

For I testify, they gave according to their means and beyond their means. They did so voluntarily, ¹ 

For I do not say this so there would be relief for others and suffering for you, but as a matter of equality.

When your children ¹  ask you later on, “What are the stipulations, statutes, and ordinances that the Lord our God commanded you?”

“What do you mean by quoting this proverb concerning the land of Israel, “‘The fathers eat sour grapes And the children’s teeth become numb?’ ¹ 

Go and learn what this saying means: ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice.’ ¹  For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

The stones ¹  will be a reminder to you. ²  When your children ask someday, ‘Why are these stones important to you?’
