and any winged thing on the ground are impure to you – they may not be eaten. ¹ 

“‘Every winged swarming thing that walks on all fours ¹  is detestable to you.

But any other winged swarming thing that has four legs is detestable to you.

However, this you may eat from all the winged swarming things that walk on all fours, which have jointed legs ¹  to hop with on the land.

Whirring locusts ¹  will take over every tree and all the produce of your soil.

I keep track of ¹  every bird in the hills, and the insects ²  of the field are mine.

The wild boars of the forest ruin it; ¹  the insects ²  of the field feed on it.

you animals and all you cattle, you creeping things and birds,

locusts have no king, but they all go forward by ranks; ¹

He sent swarms of biting insects against them, ¹  as well as frogs that overran their land. ²
