eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,

or a man who has had a broken leg or arm, ¹ 

You must not show pity; the principle will be a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, and a foot for a foot. ¹ 

If ¹  I have walked in falsehood, and if ²  my foot has hastened ³  to deceit –

He held ¹  in his hand a little scroll that was open, and he put his right foot on the sea and his left on the land.

The Israelites journeyed ¹  from Rameses ²  to Sukkoth. There were about 600,000 men ³  on foot, plus their dependants. ⁴

She forgets that a foot might crush them, or that a wild animal ¹  might trample them.

for the Lord will be ¹  the source of your confidence, ²  and he will guard your foot ³  from being caught in a trap. ⁴ 

Like a bad tooth or a foot out of joint, ¹  so is confidence ²  in an unfaithful person at the time of trouble. ³ 

and ‘with their hands they will lift you up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” ¹ 

Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they took their place at the foot of the mountain.

They will lift you up in their hands, so you will not slip and fall on a stone. ¹ 

If I say, “My foot is slipping,” your loyal love, O Lord, supports me.

May he not allow your foot to slip! May your protector ¹  not sleep! ² 

I am safe, ¹  and among the worshipers I will praise the Lord.

It is trampled underfoot by the feet of the oppressed, by the soles of the poor.”
